Progress

December 2018

It’s been a while since I have put an update on here, but I have by no means not been doing nothing, but i have been caring out some essential maintenance.

As space is very limited, I made the decision to completely rewire the whole simulator and move some components which were pretty much unreachable in the event an issue. Well this has taken some time to complete.

I have also added all the gauges to the MIP and Overhead as part of this process. I am now back to the point where the Sim is working, but now we are getting back to the winter work has stopped until the spring. I will of course turn it on and fly around, whilst planning my next stages.

I have also migrated the website to a new server and made some changes to the design. So, I am hoping over the next few months, I can find those pictures from the refit and get some new content on here.

August 2016

Well the small refit and extended mainternance, has infact been extended to include some extra work. I have put a couple of pictures up as the work is nearing completion and hopfully the Sim will soon be operational again, albeit still awaiting some new hardware to arrive and to be installed. However all the work I have been doing was to make it eaiser to install the new kit when it arrives.

Refit Pictures can be seen here

June 2016

Due to the hardware issues which I discoverd in May, I have decided to put the Sim out of action and put it in for a refit and some extened mainternace. This is mainly to carry out some extensive rewireing, which will help fault finding in the future. As so much of it is very difficult to get at.

Hope to have it all back on line soon with all the newly added working panels.

May 2016

Due to some hardware issues, to which I now think I have got to the bottom off. So I am now in the rebuilding phase. Hope to be able to get some more up here soon.

February 2016

Well new PC and monitors are in and working with a basic setup. Still got a lot more setting up to do.

Really waiting for the better weather to get here as I really need to take all apart, to re site some of the PC's and to tidy up the interior of the cockpit as well as doing some painting.

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (64-bit)

and I would like to add a great machine with great service too.

In addition to the new machine I also purchased 3 new Asus VX278H LCD Monitors.

With a shortage of time I have not quite got it all back up and running but the latest picture is up on the pictures pages.

It is getting close to me semi retiring from work so I should have more time to document what I have in my system and to get this too up on my site.

June 2015

In the last six months I have been wiring and rewiring the MIP and Overhead Panels. As well as bringing on the shed. Give me a another month or two and I am hoping to be able to post some more pictures of a more complete functional Sim.

November 2014

I have also acquired some new additions which I intended to get installed and working once I have moved the simulator. Hopefully this will be sooner rather than later. I have also made some minor amendments to these web pages.

With the start of making my Simulator more assessable, this should spur me on to build and play more, but also the incentive to actually document and publish here on my web for others to view. Like all I have used other web resources already out there, and these will be listed in my links page.

With Christmas just around the corner we will have to wait and see if I have more toys to add and play with, but there is no harm in hoping.

October 2014

Due to the difficulty in the access to my Simulator, I have made a start on building a new home to house it. Please see pictures section. It is hoped that it will not be too long, before I move my simulator from the loft to its new home. This will make it a lot easier for me to play and build. Already looking forward to integrating my new additions.

January 2014

Started work on new web site design, but no progress with Simulator due to lack of space.

April 2013

No further work done on the simulator in the last year, but I am looking to redevelop the Web site, with the intent to include more content.

February 2012

Not much to report really. I have however had some time to play since my last report.

I have also managed to upgrade my main PC to Windows 7 64 bit. This was done from a fresh install and reloading everything I had running on it including FSX. I have also upgrade VOX to version 6.

As I have had some time to fly I have also upgraded all my add-ons. So all software is now up to date and I have a monthly schedule to do any further updates.

With all this going on, I have started to document my flight simulator, so keep coming back to see where I am at. The loft is still the only space I have, but at least it is out of the way from little fingers.

Any documents I write I will post on this site when I am happy with them.

November 2009

Well one of the rare occasions where I have an hour to spare, not enough time to continue with the build, but start the topic of Windows 7 or not. If so when after SP1 may be.

Early indications from what I have heard at least for one person is that FSX would not run very well on his XP or VISTA system, but now that he has gone to Windows 7 he has had much more success on the same hardware. So if this is the case then my add-ons that are mainly XP should run on Windows 7. I think I will wait as I do not have the time at the moment, but I will be watching this space.

September 2009

New Website published and updated with new page of Items required to complete simulator.

May 2009

Started work on new website.

March 2009

Progress has been slow, but I have moved it on from the last pictures posted on my old site. Time and space has been limited and with the Sim installed in the loft to give me that extra space i need, it has reduced the time I have on the Sim.

I hope that this is only a temporary measure and I hope to get more up here soon.
